Where are most cobs found?

Where are Spanish cobs found generally? Other than Spain, what parts of the U.S., other parts of the world?? Thanks!

Cobs are found anywhere the Spanish set their feet.

They're still finding nice treasure shipwrecks off Florida but most are keeping it quiet these days and selling to collectors privately.

One big Spanish gold ship was recently found off Florida and that news will come out soon.

Southern California has millions of copper cobs. I know of one team that finds thousands every year (with a few gold and silver). They hunt the old Spanish trail.

Spanish milled and, to a lesser extent, cob coinage circulated commonly in the early American colonies. Any site that dates back later than 1800 would be a candidate.

Due to the great loss of Spanish shipping along the treacherous coastlines of Florida there are probably more cobs there and in adjoining waters than any other state in the US.

The Tobacco Colonies hold a lot of Spanish Silver, Cobs seem to turn up there more often than around New England.

I occasionally find them here in Tidewater Virginia at pre-1750 sites. I've probably dug around 15 of them over the years. Not all that uncommon around here.

They circulated with the early French here in Atlantic Canada and I've dug 8 or 9 at these type of sites which date from about 1720s to the 1750s.
