Where are the 1997's coming from?

I did my last two boxes of halves that I will be doing for a while because of school starting up. Both of them were skunks. The second box was extremely frustrating. Each roll that I opened contained at least 5 to 8 almost new looking 1997's. All of them were in the same exact condition and the rims were all very thin. If the rolls didn't contain a lot of 97's, they were all marked down the side. It made the second box no fun to search. Where are all of the 97's coming from? The boxes I searched were brinks, but I searched a box from Garda a week ago the was loaded with 97's. Is anyone else having this problem? Where are they coming from?

Seems like someone searched them, thought the thin rims ment something and set them aside, the rerolled, marked the others and dumped.

I havent got a box but loose halfs in tell drawers seem to be mostly 1997s and 1971s

I dunno. I suppose they release them from the "main stash" periodically. I once read a thread on here where someone discussed how they're released periodically. For me, it has been 94's. I did find 2 full rolls of 2012's a few weeks back. I can only assume that those were a result of someone needing to turn their coins into paper money.

44 Special, depending upon where you live and hunt, the armoured car companies may have gotten to the bottom of a pallet of halves and asked the Fed for more, or maybe a big CRHer in your neck of the woods made a colossal dump and your local armoured car company is working their way through them. Part of the great fun this hobby rewards you with sometimes. JP
