The same with the Pro tournaments, folks used to be mad as they got certificates for stuff like my SX-190 was actually won as a $10,000 value prize in a BASS Tournament which you ordered in colors etc you wanted from Skeeter delivered to a dealer. It was just a finished hull and trailer. I had to go get a motor, hotfoot, and jackplate to stick on it.

A pro doesn't need another boat, he has one already which most fish with for free the 1st year. After a year they have to either buy it or sell it to someone and take another new one on loan for a year again. They only buy pay for the motor at wholesale prices and some get those for free too as their sponsor pays for it. The pros want cash

16ft i think, hubby wants a bigger one though, real sure he'll be getting one some day...their so expensive!

$30,000.00 for a boat, and when it rains ya get wet?! Not for me, when it rains I just put up my umbrella, I can't go fast enough to yank it out of my hand .......NGE

lol...your so funny NGE!....i pulled out my umbrella while we were fishing, and you shoulda heard my family rag on me for it....i know the whole time they were wishing they woulda had theirs! They aint fool'n nobody.

Dang heat bout killed me!

Hubby took me and my sis in law fishing out here on our lake in the boat one day, well before we left, i knew we had a chance of rain, so i grabbed my umbrella, all my candy, and a towel....and of course they picked on me the whole time we were walking out the door....but guess who was under that towel trying to keep warm and sharing the umbrella with me when it started to rain!...yep, my little sis in law.

then think about the tackle , chow, fuel, etc also

I have ran over 3 hours non stop in an 8 hour tournament to get to where I thought the fish were
fish for 2 hours and haul butt back make weight in

well if I hadn't spent so much time running aroung in Navy I might of tried to get into it full time

But like any pro sport there are a handful that make a bunch of money and 100s of others that do their best to stay above water.

If you don't have a sponsor or someone to pay your fees, it is quite expensive not to mention you are always gone too. The one paying your fees when they call you have to be there for what ever they want or you don't have them for a sponsor.

Folks wake up and thier tackle be stolen, maybe boat or motor gone. some can't afford a hotel so they sleepin thier van or truck hoping to make it to the big time on this event.
and then it might be just an ounce that makes you or breaks you.

not as glamourous as some folks might think.

Last year they caught a couple of guys, during the tournament, going around and steeling rods out of the skeeter boats, at the other motel we used to stay in...they were caught when someone in the motel room who had a dog, his dog started barking, woke him up, and by the time he got up and went outside to see what they were doing they were driving off with a pick up load of rod & reels. They caught them though, Thank goodness. They were popping locks off of the boats and reaching in and grabbing stuff....we take all of our rods and put them in our room every night. Make sure you do the same Bridge...people now days will steel ya blind. As you well know...that stuff is expensive. That particular motel, you could park your boat right up to the door of your room. They had alot of nerve.

Me personally, i dont find it glamorous at all Bridge. lol.. I only do it cuz it makes my hubby happy. He loves it. I figure he works his tail off all year, i can take 2 days out of my life to sit on a hot lake with him, cuz thats what he enjoys.. lol.. I do have fun catching them though...its when their not biting that i dont have the patients for.

Ok I might have a partner but he might not be able to go kinda early yet to say no or yes

If he decides he doesn't want to fish I will have a backseat open if any of you Tneters want to ride
let me know.

I will warn you I only stop fishing for one reason "lighting" other than that we stay fishing.
If you get hung well most times it is break it off quickly, retie a new one on and get the bait back in water.
