Whites Coils

I been wanting to get a smaller coil for my DFX. Can anyone tell me the different between the Whites Eclipse shooter DD and the Eclipse Deep scan DD 1400 Thanks Matt

Dang! The DD 1400 is a 14" coil! I wonder what coil size you have not if you think that's a small coil...
I would also look into the Excellerator line.. (Aka Detech)
They have a few smaller coils that get good reports.

Isn't is easier to go to the Whites website and look up the correct info yourself where you can also see the pix.

The 1400 is a huge coil of 10"X14" while the Eclipse is only 6"X4".

Yes I think it would be easy enough.. But I think he was after what difference it the field the sizes meant?? (aka he's asking for experience with these coils)

Ok thanks I did not know the sizes of these coils I asked someone before about a new coil to get deeper and these was the two he told me about. Thanks Matt

I have a MXT & use both the 6x10 eclipse and the 4x6 dd I have good luck with both. The 6x10 covers more ground but you can miss targets that are close together, I have found penny's at 10" with no problem with it. The 4x6 works just as good and the more I use it the better I like it. It is easier to pin point and I have found more rings with it than with the larger coil. Its takes longer to search an area with the smaller one but I think you are more likely to find everything in the area simply because you are going slower.

When I am looking in a new area I will put the larger of the two on and hit the area quick to find the sweet spots, once found I switch to the 4x6 and hunt. Also with the 4x6 you can get very close to fence's with very little interference.

Thanks....this is a good topic. I have the 6x9 and I am getting a 4x6 soon. The information here is helpful to me also.

I want to thank all the wrote in and gave me their information. It looks like I will save and get the 4x6 before spring. I just wish the weather wasn't so bad aaround here in Northwest Oh so I can get out and do some detecting. ....Matt

Good to see you here....Have you considered a 5.3 round coil? Ohio does not have a lot of mineralized ground.
