Dug deep into the pocket for 'em. They were both dug by the late, great Tommy Mitchener.

Compliments to you for sharing such beautiful glass

My compliments to all on the fantastic bottles !!!!! I don't find anything close up here on the mountain

I really am fond of this long-necked demijohn! It is more than 19 inches tall, dip-mold blown, probably English or American. More than 200 years old! This bottle is featured on my demijohn web-site at

Love the color in that one Harry. Awesome demijohn

That's a killer all over, Harry.

That has to be one of the most beautiful demis ive ever seen. Harry is it American? It looks New England to me.

Thanks, Dude, I also like it. It's hard to say where it was made. I think it wasn't made on the European Continent. To my eye, it is English or possibly in the English tradition in the USA. The bottle dates, after all, to just after the Revolutionary War. I haven't been able to match the bottle to any purely American tradition or factory.

I'd like to bring this back to the top to see if anyone else has some more old bottles to share. Here are my two but I hope to add more to the collection soon..hopefully by digging my own.

Contribution of four ale bottles from the same
dump circa 1860.

Here is a recent find I made in the USVI about two weeks ago. Dating this bottle around 1740 - 1780. This has to be one of my favorite finds to date.

VERY pretty, great find.
