Why isn't my Equinox 800 charging?

When the Equinox 800 is fully charged there are 3 bars that will appear. When I started charging there were 2 bars. I've been charging for a few hours and I don't see any change. I used a new charging cable I bought on Amazon and I also tried my original charging cable.

I'm charging by connecting to a USB port on my computer. I also tried connecting to an ANKER wall charger. Both methods didn't make a difference.

What is amperage on charging connector you plug into? 5.0-volt at 2.0-amp is best, it will charge on 1amp and 1.5 but takes longer.

For the wall plug it says 100 - 240 V and 0.7 A.

But now I have it plugged into a USB port on my PC for a while and still no difference. This has worked in the past so I don't know why it's taking so long this time.

Get a 5 volt 2.0 amp charger it will charge faster.

Do you take it in salt water? Do you wash the connector on the metal detector off really good after you get home? If not, it's possible there is corrosion built up & it's not charging because there is not a good connection.

You should see a blinking green light & animation on the battery bars when you have a solid connection.

I've never taken the control box underwater. I've never cleaned the connectors. I didn't think your should get them wet.

Mine gets splashed, goes underwater occasionally. I had gotten a magnetic protector on etsy, but the next time that I took my MD out, that little protector didn't come home with me.

It is the same charging cable.
I think your mixing voltage and wattage. If you get a charging block 5 volts 2 amp it will say it on the side or bottom it will be fine.

Alcohol is what you clean with, isopropyl alcohol..

Update: I just checked the bars and now I'm down to 1 bar (from 2 bars) out of 3. So even though this has been charging, I am losing power.

So just to be sure are you saying I can apply isopropyl alcohol (maybe with a Q-tip) to the gold contacts in the two attached pictures showing the back of control panel (red arrow) and charging cable (yellow arrow)?

Yes you can, I have used it for years cleaning electrical contacts in both telecom equipment and detectors. I used it in both Minelab and Kellyco repair centers.

I'm trying a new wall charger. After trying everything, if I determine that the charging interface on the back of the control panel is bad (attached picture), is it possible to have that charging interface replaced or do I have to buy a new detector?

Pictures are not real clear, but both the charger port and cable looks dirty. Clean both charging port and cable real good with alcohol, if it has a lot of salt residue it can cause charging issues.

You said you are charging from pc, what kind of USB port is it, it might be a 1 amp port if pc is old. Charge it from electricial outlet with 5 V 2 amp charging block.

Are you closing the screen if it is a laptop, some laptops go into sleep mode and charging port shuts down, same with some older desktop computers.

How old is your Equinox?

Many good points. I cleaned the contacts eith rubbing alcohol. When I charged from my PC I didn't close the screen. I've never had a problem before so I don't know why this is an issue now.

I bought a new wall charger. It says

Output USB-A, 5V= 3A, 9V= 2A, 12V=1.5A

so I don't know which one of these outputs I am getting.

Got my Equinox in 2019. I really haven't used it too many times. Mostly at the beach.
