will it work to find gold

I have a garrett xl500 sea hunter pi detector with a 6 inch coil will it work to find placer gold? And how good will it work in black sand?never tried this before but thought i might try if this detector would work just to start with. Thanks

The difference between a beach hunter and a nugget hunter is the ground balence control. If you have nothing else to use, then use it, but ground minerlization might drive you crazy if you don't have GB control.
