Wm Rogers Overlaid IS

That's the inscription on a spoon I found today with my Etrac + X-5 coil. IS = International Silver, so maybe Overlaid means silver over base metal. Unfortunately, the spoon apparently went on a trip through a lawnmower so it is literally bent out of shape.

I went to Goodwill yesterday and picked up a bag of Wm Rogers Silver Overlaid. Reading that, I suspected "plated", but there was also a Rogers 1881 in the bag which I hoped might be sterling. Got the bag for $20, got home and looked it all up - both are "plated".

It's a 30 piece set of the "Overlaid", with one extra - the 1881....

Nothing ventured, nothing gained - I just don't have to buy anymore knives, forks & spoons......

One thing, I'm a little better educated now....
