Place a magnet in an empty film canister (remember those? Lol). Run the cannistrr through your sands and then shake over another pan. Best, cheapest gold magnt ive ever used.

Yeah I just made a spring loaded PVC pipe magnet thing for like $6 and it works great and it's tough. I put all my black sands aside and like I said, quickly go through them afterwards just in case.

I made one of those myself. A spring inside the tube and one on the outside. Just release the plunger to drop the magnetic sand
Around here a lot of the garnets are magnetic as well.

Don't want to sound ignorant but does it have to be a special kind of magnet? Because I was just looking on ebay while I was making another order and the blacksand magnets aren't but 10.00 or so.....

Ay magnet will work...stronger is better of course, at least sort of.
