I'm fortunate to be able to get on many old properties due to my wildlife control business. I'm in the process of removing some squirrels from an 1870 home that I was able to gain permission to detect. I wasn't there 5 minutes when I got a penny signal. I was hoping for a wheaty or IH, but just a Lincoln. BUT, when I put my MXT down to dig the hole, it beeped. So after filling the penny hole, I scanned the other beep. Another Penny signal. I dug a plug and tossed the dirt onto my canvas. I see a disk a little larger than a quarter and I thought I found another token or a piece of junk. I was not expecting to pick it up and look at ONE CENT on the reverse. I couldn't see the front until I got home, but knew I did good. After some light cleaning, She looks beautiful.
1849 Braided Hair Large Cent. :hello2:

Congratulations!!!! A large cent is next on my list of metal detecting goals. I'll be going after one with much determination during the week of Thanksgiving while visiting my in-laws in a very rural Michigan town.

I love to find LC

Cool find...I'm surprised it rang up as a penny. On my DFX the large cents usually rings up in the quarter to half range.

I hope you find many more.
