I'm going through a lot of the stuff my Dad and I found when I was a kid. I'm just getting back into artifact collecting so I need all the education I can get from you experienced collectors here. I think that these two pieces show some tooling. What do you guys think? If so, what would these pieces be classified as? The long one has a clean break on one end. Thanks! 20150620_204535.jpg20150620_204544.jpg20150620_204551.jpg

Long one looks to be a base section of a point/ knife. round one either a core or a type of tool.

What is a "core"? If the long one was a knife it was huge. It's very thick. Maybe it's hard to see the mass of this piece in the pictures.

If its big maybe a broken hoe end. The core would be the very end of the flaking process as a nub then tossed. Big cobble flakes removed from all sides till there was nothing left but a core.
