The street hemi was basically a detuned nascar engine with an advertised horsepower rating of 425 hp.In that time period auto manufacturers were known to stretch the truth about actual horsepower ratings because of insurance cost.Actual hemi horsepower was more like 560 horsepower.
My friend has a dyno, and his Hemi Challenger put out almost 600 ponies!!!

OK. the original top gear started in 1977.
The Brits don't do reality shows...survivor, big brother etc.

I loved the muscle cars. I owned both the 1969 Roadrunner (383 magnum, carter 4bbl, Dana positraction, hurst slap-shift) and the 1969 GTX (383 magnum, 727 tranny with a P-R-D-1-2-3 manual shifter). It came with a 440 magnum, but the engine was pulled in Rhode Island and run in a "rail".

Lots of fun, lots of gas --- roadrunner got all of 10 MPG highway, but would bury the needle past 150.
