That shows you how many Libery Cap Lg cents I have found. (1 - 1795) It's the ONLY one I know found in these parts and that's by about 20 guys I know that hunt early sites. I sure would like to see another.

Seeing the 96 was both Cap-no cap I had a feeling there was possibly a little something else that could screw up my answer.

I have 2 or 3 early 1800s ones, an 1853, and that's it for many old sites and many dug coppers. I keep the hope alive for a chain cent, or pre 1800 US silver, but considering how tough those are even for people hunting where they can turn up, I don't hold my breath. A 1795 (think it was 95) Dollar was dug a few hours from me so I guess you never know.

Sweet coin sonnyjam :icon_queen:

Good quick ID Iron Patch :icon_thumright:

Must be a thrill digging one of those early coins :icon_sunny: The writting on edge is kind of neat and a pretty coin worn or not worn.

It may be the pic or is that the tale of the 3?

By what looks like the position of the letter R would eliminate 1793, so 1794 is the most common and most likely, but it also could be a 1795, but unlikely since the 3 varieties of 1795 that it could be based on the R position, the R is touching or almost touching the top of the hair on them and I see a decent gap between hair and R.

If it were mine it would be getting logged as a 1794, variety unknown.

Ouch on the shape, I have one worst, blank on both sides but you can read some of the edge lettering.

The only way I knew the dates is I've dug a couple. One is worn really bad. The other one has good detail on the face and back but no date.

My one and only and it could have been far worse out of my dirt.
