Worn Out Kennedy's

Has any one else run into large amounts of worn down Kennedy half's in $500.00 boxes?
The rims are all worn down like the quarters you get at the car wash changer.
I have been getting slammed with these and the silver has seamed to dry up.
Does the color of the roll tell you any thing; They changed from red to yellow.
Any one else working Wisconsin?

You must be hunting an area where there are casinos. I get many "casino" halves here in Michigan. The rims are worn smooth from rolling around in the machines.

Re: Worn Out Kennedy's

yep...sounds like casino coins to me too. i used to go to a large casino a couple of times a week and try to pull silver either from the rolls the tellers hand out and from the machines. in the rolls i've found a franklin, a few kennedy '64 90's and a couple of handsful of 40's. all had good/better reed quality.

i'd also drop a hundred dollar bill in the machines, play one time and hit cash out....and start going through them. found a '70-D while doing that. luckily for me it still had good reeds so it must have been put into the system recently. needless to say it ain't goin' back into a slot machine any time soon! i often wondered what those security camera guys thought as they undoubtedly saw me searching through the coins and suddenly stand up, put one in my pocket and then resume the search! anyway, i've found probably three or four handsful of 40's at that casino, the majority with little to no reeds left. funny thing is that those 40's with worn or missing reeds from the machines have that copper nickel look when doing an edge check.

Been there, done that. :) Only I don't always play first....just cash out.
