Worst 1809 US half cent you will ever see

I was out digging in the snow and found this. It's an 1809 US half cent and I can read the entire date and part of "America" on the reverse, but someone took a hammer to it. Also found two CW period buttons and a few nice pieces of ceramics.

You can read America and 1809 date! I'd grade that one about a 65 !!!

heres an ocean LG cent - cant read anything - can just see the head
moving back and forth on sandy bottom for so long wore it down

I have seen worse Smokey. But yours is the worst half cent I have seen that has a readable date!

Oldest US cent I ever found was 1793 - it was much worse - I gave it to my mentor in archaeology. Years ago. Decades even.

You should have seen the green left where it sat in the ground. That was an artifact in itself. Got some ceramic pieces if anyone wants a pic, and a broken spoon handle.

I often wonder when you have a perfect intention like that is there a way of shellacking yeah or how would you save something like that?

Truth, yes saturating with something like watered down Elmer's glue is possible but not really worth the effort.
