Would this put 1/3 of all Americans on disability ?

Sorry crisp I take this as apples and whatever Diabetes is a disease being fat has always been being fat. I go back to that tv series The biggest loser if it's a problem with the brain all you need is incentive and someone next to you giving you praise.
If your medical industry could have figured it out years ago they would have. Just because there is $$$$ in it. nothing more.
I see it now with a different name to it a lot of chubby people will become the industries ginny pigs.
One good thing the air lines will have to make every 3rd seat twice as big to accommodate them. Under the disability act. (1 in 3 Americans are suppose to be to heavy)
Again if it's a brain disorder it must be a American thing unless your a Sumo wrestler :laughing7:

Yeah, I'm going to bow out of this thread. Honestly, it is kind of boring me. I get enough of this at work everyday. I'll stay out of future threads that concern this sort of thing.

Crisp

ps...you break ribs during cpr.

So by your definition....Diabetes Type II...that is controlled with diet and exercise is not a disease. You just told millions of Americans suffering from Type II Diabetes that they do not have a disease.

However, if you continue to exercise and stay at the same weight and your sugar levels start to rise as you age (which is extremely common) and you need medication for it....then you now have a disease?

Your definition makes no sense. I would suggest somebody come up with a better definition of what a disease is if we are to continue this conversation.
Your good at putting words in peoples mouths, i'll give you that much. Obesity may be the one of the contributing factors to the disease of Type II Diabetes, but it is not the one and only cause of it, as you have clearly stated yourself. Obesity is a medical condition that increases the chances of acquiring certain diseases, i'll give you that much. However, obesity in and of itself is not a disease. It is what it is... excessive body fat. I don't understand how can you argue with that?

I'm not a Dr. and would never claim to have an answer to obesity . But , we all know there will be many lazy overwieght people that will jump on the free handouts the Gooberment will be offering at the expence of the tax payers . To me it's a slap in the face to people that REALLY have a medical condition that caused them to be overwieght .

Gee, i've healed my own disease I guess. The loss of 110lbs in 14 months without any professional help and nothing but sheer will power. I amaze myself. I'm a disease healer!! woohoo! Now if I could just heal my glaucoma, i'd really be accomplishing something. Better yet, if I could heal my bro-in-laws cardiomyopathy, i'd be a genius. These are real diseases... get it.

Good job!!! And, good attitude....

I too have early stages glaucoma & cataracts - night driving is no fun anymore at all. I did read that flax oil really does help, so I'm giving that a try.

And, I completely agree with you on treatment and recognition of REAL diseases, and not rubber stamping disability claims.

A couple weeks ago, a fellow promised me he could get me full disability within a year by age 65, at a monthly rate of pay considerably higher than if I worked to 70 before retiring. Had me thinking for a week about that. But then I realize that I need to do what is the right thing to do. I will work till I'm 70.

Somebody in this failing nation needs to be responsible!
