WW II Dog Tag / Help Find Family

While going through one of the hundreds of boxes of junk in the basement, I came across this WW II USNR dog tag. I would love to get this back to his family if possible. Can Ya'll Help. The Veterans name is George William Sawyer Jr. Thanks

Hearing from his son made my year! The site that found him was a facebook group called Veteran Buddy Finder. What an AMAZING Site. They found the sons and contacted them with my phone number within 13 minutes of my post! Any of you Veterans out there that would like to reconnect with old Vet buddies should check this site out.

Steve I used Angelo's Angels but contacted with email for a WWI dog tag. I had every living relative as well as his life story (moving around)of the guy with in minutes after she answered email.

I was finally able to return the Dog Tag to the son of the Veteran. I also had a bunch of pictures from the late 1930's to the mid 1960s that I found in the same box. He recognized his mothers writing on some of them. Great Day!

Very cool indeed! I have had this fellows tags on my desk for few years now, maybe this post is trying to tell me something? Anyway I bought them at the very end of any estate sale and were bassicly going to be tossed in garbage. Sadly it was this fellows estate sale after he passed.

He had no idea how the tag got gone. It may have been after his father passed away in 1992. He said that the family cleaned out the house and trashed & goodwilled a bunch of stuff. I worked at the city landfill from 91 to 2006 and I brought home lots of stuff. It may have been from there or a yard sale, storage bin auction or.......... There was a little painted wooden cross on the chain with the tag that I didn't mention on any of my posts. The son mentioned the cross, that he made as a kid, during our first conversation. That was a positive ID for me.

This is an awesome story.
I found a Vietnam era dog tag several years ago on an Okinawa beach. I made an attempt to find the owner back then but had no luck - After reading this, I think I will give it another try.
