WW II Dog Tag / Help Find Family

While going through one of the hundreds of boxes of junk in the basement, I came across this WW II USNR dog tag. I would love to get this back to his family if possible. Can Ya'll Help. The Veterans name is George William Sawyer Jr. Thanks

contact the navy department and give them the name and the service number on the tag and they can give you all the info they have and if the family has not moved off that should enable you to get in touch with them. Good luck.

Thanks. I can't remember if this was a yard sale find or something that I brought home from the landfill when I worked there. There was also a bunch of 1940s an 50s photos in the box.

Steve, I think the A may be blood type and the P Protestant. There are a couple of people here that are helpful tracking people down. Good luck

'T 1 45' means the serviceman was vaccinated for tetanus in January of 1945.

Here are two pictures of a man in uniform that was in the same box. Can anybody ID which branch of the military the uniforms are? There were lots of cool pictures but only dates of pictures or first names on a very few. I'm not sure that the photos are even related to the dog tags. There were just in the same box.

Navy officer serial numbers between the numbers 350,000 and 600,000 were issued between the years 1945 and 1965. That fits with his tetanus shot in '45.

The hat insignia in 2nd photo appears to look like Army issue. Doubting tag n photo r same person.

Tag is Naval Reserve...Insignia is Army. Also found this in name search...
" Camille Helena Esposito was born 1921 and married George William Sawyer Jr. on 9 June 1947 at St. Brendan’s Catholic Church, Elkins. Camille Esposito Sawyer was a 1948 graduate of Davis and Elkins College at Elkins, West Virginia, where her husband was a 1949 graduate. They currently reside in Towson, Baltimore County, Maryland."

His smile, eyes, ears and nose are a dead giveaway(excuse the pun)

The uniform is definitely not Navy.
The tags are Navy issue.
