WW1 US Battleship Builder's Plaque- How to Find a Value?

I possess the actual builder's plaque off of a WW1-era (launched before WW1, but participated during WW1) battleship/dreadnought and would love to find a way to place a value upon it. It was scrapped as part of the Washington Naval Treaty.

Obviously this is rare- from what I understand only the original ship's china and silver service items still exist.

Are there any experts that I can turn to?

Best bet is probably contacting a dealer in military memorabilia. My guess is that a LOT will depend on the campaign history of the particular battleship. There was almost none in WWI.. Mostly blockade and destroyer/cruiser actions. They even ended up removing guns for use ashore.

USS Indiana, USS Massachusetts, USS Iowa and USS Texas at least saw action in the Battle of Santiago de Cuba in the S/A War. Those would likely have a premium value.

Yes sir. Nada. Zilch. Appears most were simply scrapped.

Your plaque is unique but unfortunately, uniqueness by itself, does not create value. Also unfortunate is the fact the USS Delaware never saw action. If the plaque were mine I would contact the Delaware Public Archives (302-744-5000) and ask for contact information for the State of Delaware's Archivist. I'd send him pics of the plaque and the ship with a hint that you would consider donating the plaque to a public institution if the appraised value was adequate. Then listen to his suggestions and make the next decision.

Delaware may also have a maritime museum that may have an interest.
