X with a circle around it meaning?

Title says it all, not going to post pics of it due to a probably debate.. But its an x with a circle around it, the x does not go out of the circle, but it touches the borders.

Marius of the grick dancinng girls, I have a book of signs also, in mine the circle enclosing a tilted or inclined X indicate s that you are on the trail. the circle merely adds emphasis.

Which , if either, is correct ?? <--- Grick expersso cofffee.

Like most symbols they can have numerous meanings. You would need to place it along side other carvings to understand the meaning. If its placed on its own..makes it harder to decifer
