decided to grid search the front yard with my Nox to see what I could find. It didn't take long for me to get my search coil over a gold ring near the public sidewalk. I was all excited until I found out that it was gold plated. I found 30 wheat pennies (final count) and a few modern coins, but no silver coins.
After taking a short break, I switched to Vista X with the 6 x 8-inch search coil to do another grid search over the same area. This time I managed to unearth a cheap ring, a few nickels, and several wheat pennies, and finally a 1935 Washington quarter. It wasn't deep or masked, I just didn't get the search coil over it when I was swinging the Nox.
I waved and talked to a few people who were out walking their dogs and jogging. I'm expecting someone to ask me if I'd like to detect their yard. I spoke with the owner of the site and asked her if she would like for me to bring her some tomato plants because I had a few extras. She said that she would really like to have some. I'm resting up today, so I'll take the plants tomorrow when I go back and detect the same area again with yet another detector.
