Yesterday's creek finds

Again, new at this so any and all help is welcomed!

Pretty excited about these finds.

The flat / rounded rock fits my hand almost perfectly (it's a little small for hand, but seems to be worn to fit on a the rounded or top part). The bottom is fairly smooth, some grooving... perhaps from being in the creek?

The rock with hole in it... part of a necklace?

The last item I am not so sure of. Only reason I picked it up is because of the "edge" on it. Seems to be tapered on the one end. It's small (as evidenced by my fingers holding it), so I'm not sure.

I'll try to remember to use something in the picture for scale next time. Sorry!

Well, it would appear that you might have a eroded pendant in shots 3,4, and a possible as I cannot see the picture it is darker pendant preform or just a stone with fossil inclusions one or the other. If I had a picture with a lighter background I would be able to tell you.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but neither of those are artifacts. The hole is formed where a fossil or softer mineral eroded or "rotted" out of the limestone. I am sure you will find something great if you keep at it.

Yes absolutely keep at it. I have found hundreds of points in your area. They ARE out there.

Well I'm fairly new to this hobby too, but if others have found points in your area then you will also.

Step back from the creek and look at the lay of the land, look for a nice flat area up high and look there. If you see flint chips, keep looking. I've found little creeks aren't the best here, but large creeks or small rivers are better.

I agree, the smaller creeks likely were'nt in existence thousands of years ago. Larger creeks tend to yield more artifacts. However, the smaller streams can still pull artifacts into them as they erode the slopes around them.

What you have is water worn rocks, but don't be discouraged, just keep your eyes on the ground and you will find something. For most of us this hobby takes lots of patience. Unless your as lucky as Larson LOL
