The weather here in Bama was absolutely awesome yesterday afternoon, so I called Shannon to see if she wanted to go to the park with the babies. She did, and off we went. I had seen this park a couple of weeks ago while in the burbs after a shopping trip, so decided that one would be great. Drove down, had a late lunch in the park and then play time. Found a few coins right off and then got a cute little silver ring! Was so excited! Easy diggin too! After a few minutes got to the edge of the pea gravel and get a good beep. Dig past the layer of gravel, and think.....what the heck kind of coin is this? Rub a bit of the dirt off and there's a hole in the middle. No WAY! :D It's a tax token! :D Go figure! ;D I didn't have time to go over the whole park, but maybe in the next couple of days we will go back. ;) Ended up with the silver ring (on the left), the tax token, another little play ring (on the right) and 41 cents and a fun day!

Nana :)

wow,,,,great finds there !!!!!! ;D ;D ;D ;D

Great day at the park and great finds. Having Shannon and the babies there made it extra special.

;) RR

That is a nice little ring, Nana... & congrats on the tax token. Definitely an unusual find.

Those clad coins minted recently can be deceptive. I would swear they changed the alloy or something. They tarnish to black, just like silver. :-\

Let's just say the tax tokens are older than me! ;D

I ain't a granny yet Gypsy! I'm a Nana! :D And yes...it was a treat for them to go with me! The four year old had never seen an ice cream truck, and one drove up and all the kids go running over. He was at the top of the slide and started yelling "Nan!!!! Come here!" So I go over and ask what was wrong. He wouldn't turn around and face the truck, he just used his thumb and was pointing over his shoulder and asked "What IS that!" :D Had to explain the man in the truck selling ice cream on the side of the road! :D And down the slide he came and took off running! A first for him. Glad I was there. :)

BB....I usually just listen for the good tones and then look at the screen for back-up thoughts as to what it might be. Always am in relic mode, even at the parks. I have found a bit of jewelry here and there, but think ya just have to go where it's lost.

Thanks ya'll! You're the best! :)

Nice day out with the family Nana! Must have been a great experience for the 4yr old. Congrast on the silver! HH, Mike
