You ever been on a shrimp boat?

No..But I've been on a real big boat.

Just a hand held snapshot at dawn while unloading lumber. (North Sanfrancisco bay area.)

those are not shrimp boats --those are "docking tugboats" - they help the big ships dock --the big ships get close to the dock area ---thet then shutdown their props --the "docking tug boats" then push and tug them toward them to the peir to be tied up. --the tug boats often use lines connected to the larger vessels to "tug" or pull them into place --thus the term " push or tug" boat.

shrimping boats would have net booms upon them and would not be used to assist in docking ships.

I was a merchant seaman for 27 years .

i have worked on both the tug boats and the larger type of vessels --similar to the one shown --(oil -- tanker by the looks of it) ---have worked on "tow boats" -- ocean going large tug boats that haul barges behind them with a long wire * -- "normal" tug boats (docking assist vessels) ---- push boats -- they are flat bottomed and work the mississippi and other rivers, pushing barges in the "river"-- I have worked "deep water" as well --- propane carriers (LNG) -- several oil tankers ,lots of container ships , a jet fuel carrier (during gulf war 2 - M/V GUS DARNELL) a ammo ship (during first gulf war- SS CAPE ANN)-- US GOVT AID grain frieghter --(CLEVELAND)
