ZSandmann's Newbie CRH Log

Soooooo... been lurking for a while but just registered a few days ago and decided to try a log. I'm 30 living in West Texas and I haven't done much CRHing since I was in my early teens. I was unpacking some boxes a few months ago and found my childhood coin collection and got a small spark of renewed interest. I have a bunch of loose coins from my grandfather and a bunch of half filled coin books that my mom and I worked on. Here's a picture of my loose silver I could find, there's a bit more than this in the various dime, quarter, and half dollar albums.

Thanks for the welcomes everyone. I can def get some picks of my coin folders if your interested. The non-silver quarters and nickels are pretty much full. and the 1959 forward pennies. Also have a box of mostly silver coins that are plastic sleeved from the Littleton Coin Club my mom had me enrolled in for a year or two.

Agreed about the Morgans, love them! I want more!!!!

Welcome to the addiction that is coin roll hunting.. Be ready for weird looks at the bank and lots of angry tellers.. :laughing7: Don't worry though, it's all worth it when you pull some sweet Ag..

Testing the waters at my bank today. Got 10 rolls of nickels, three rolls of quarters, and 10 rolls of dimes. Skunked on all of them, got a Mexican 10 cent piece, and a nickel I needed for my albums. More importantly though, I requested a box of half dollars and they were very nice about it and said they would call me when they came in next week. My next step is to find a dump bank, I would love to find one with a counting machine.

Please post more detailed pictures of the collection in the coins section!!!!! They love seeing other people collections!

Will do when I can get my better camera out.

In other news: Skunked another box of Dimes today :(

Well.... my bank finally got my box of halves in. I was optimistic because they seemed to have no idea what to do with the box. Like they had never gotten halves in before, they though it was a $500 box of quarters for a while. Anyways I got in the car and could contain myself so I popped the box open ans saw.... a LOT of bicentennial enders. I thought that was odd but encouraging and headed home.

I learned to things. There are definitely other CHRers in the area, saw several different marks, and this

Someone's "mark" is to the grind the ridges off the edges of the halves :(

Also, final total was 169 Bicentennials..... I'm not sure what to think of this, is there any purpose in trying to sell these off in bulk?

Skunked on silver, but pulled 4 NIFCs.

Lol, those are casino coins rook.

Thanks for the info, that may well be the case. I didn't even think of it because there are NO casinos anywhere near here. Hopefully the next box is a bit better.

Thats right the next box will always be better than a skunk....unless

That was the most common use of halves in recent times until electronic players cards emerged. No casinos near me and I had a batch where I scored about 100 silver casino coins including some smooth edged 90% jfks. Good luck on the next one.

Keep in mind that the coins circulate nationwide. Also, the bicentennials are not worth selling.

Two boxes of dimes today got me a 1946 D Rosie and a foreign dime, I forgot the country already. :P

I'm excited for the dime as I've been on a skunk streak since joining the site.

Also, been hunting pennies for fun, got 12 wheaties in a box today. Four I needed for my album.

Welcome to the site! I like your log idea. Maybe I will start one of my own. I'm new here myself. I enjoy reading about everyone's hunt! And I learned about casino coins! Good luck out there!

Got two boxes of nickels today which returned seven dateless buffaloes and three war nickels 1943-P and two 1944-P

A box of halves netted 2 1969-D and.... A 1970-S!

Pretty good for what I've been finding lately which is nothing at all :P
