After yesterday's great barber half find I was going to take a break today but the detecting bug woke me up early and said lets go, and sooooo glad I did. I have found many rings over the years but not any that I can really brag about, till today! Was going to head to my barber lot when on my way there I took a different route about 5 minutes away from it. Passing thru a neighborhood that dates back to the early 1900's when I seen one of the homes had recently been tore down and a empty lot was screaming at me to stop. After a very slow start and a few wheats and a mercury dime later I was thinking, not as good as I thought it was going to be, than bam! A strong 81-82 on my At pro, dug down about 4" when I seen it, still not sure what I had till I picked it up and realized I found my best ring ever. Looks from the style to be from the 1920's, Amethyst and diamonds and is 10k marked. Taking to Jewelers this week for cleaning and appraisal. I am one happy guy.

One of the loveliest rings I've ever seen anywhere! :headbang: Gorgeous amethyst & the CZs are beauts, though we were all hoping they'd be diamonds instead. Idea of another appraisal seems a good one, especially if it might produce paperwork proving a high value & in case you ever want to sell it. Looking forward to hearing about your future hunts. Meantime, keep basking in your fabulous find! Andi

I agree rayray, i would submit for a professional appraisal just to have the paperwork. Still really looks like its older than late 20th, like you say, you may get a better appraisal. Did the person doing the appraisal offer to buy it from you? :) I wouldn't have sold it to the person doing the appraisal no matter what he offered. Good luck on the next one and congrats, it still has my vote for banner!

Thanks Bejamble, told him right from the beginning that I dont want to sell and just like you said wouldn't of most likely anyways. He did say it was a beautiful ring design wise. God luck to you also on your hunts.

Still a Very Cool ring! :icon_thumleft: Sorry that it didn't turn out as expected, but I still feel that it is an awesome ring. The clarity on the stone makes it really stand out.

I think it's a Banner worthy ring and I'm voting that way.
