  1. My first GOLD thing!....and a pocket watch

Well i finally got around to hitting the beach up this weekend. i am way more interested in historical items. But with the proximity of the fort being so close, i thought what the heck. It could be the best of both worlds. Since the state wont let me metal detect any where inside the historic...
  2. 1890 CC Morgan Silver Dollar

Found my first MSD. Was on the beach in an area known historically for fishing docks and likely a Chinese shrimp camp. My guess it was dropped from the docks into the sand or water. Carson City mint mark. What should I do with it? What do you think it's worth in this grade?

Would really like to hunt some of the RI beaches from now until Memorial Day, both in & out of the water. Was in South Kingstown yesterday at the Penguin Hunt sponsored by Awesome Relics New England and had a great time. I noticed police patroling the parking lot during the hunt and the gates...
  9. First Day w/ CORS Strike on Fisher F22 in Korea + Father-in-Law's First Hunt

Yesterday, I took my father-in-law out for some beach metal detecting. While he had been out with us to a beach before, he has never done the detecting and digging himself. Call it beginners luck, but he found more coins than I did. It was also the first day on my new CORS Strike coil that I...
  10. How Beach Hunting is Done

I've got a suggestion for all of you beach hunters. I thought I know how to and where to until I watched the Dankowski Beach and Swimming Hole Hunting video. I've refined my entire game with this dvd. Anyone else watched and done the same ? Got any comments, suggestions or tips to add ?
  11. Bali and metal detecting?

Hey guys this post may be a bit unique as I’m going to Bali for a long stint coming up in 2018 and will be bring my CTX to hunt those lush beaches. However, I’m not as passionate about beach hunting as I am relic hunting and I’m not sure what I might discover in Bali deep in the Indonesian...

  13. USING CTX 3030 IN OCEAN VS. PURCHASING A SECOND DEDICATED WATERPROOF DETECTOR

Sorry if this question has been discussed in other threads--I looked, but couldn't find exactly what I am after. I have owned a CTX 3030 for about three years, using it for land and out-of-water beach use. I am interested in getting into shallow ocean detecting, in water about chest deep. My...
  14. Tesoro Sand Shark MD, Little Help!

Hey Now Folks. I have been considering the purchase of an submersible detector. I plan to hunt the beach quite a bit but will probably use it in fresh water as well and possibly in extreme mineralized areas. So my question are this. I am leaning towards P.I. because these machines have a...
  15. Magnet fishing in the ocean???

I am making a trip to the beach soon and I always detect and find some cool irons pieces. But this time I will still detect but I would like to try magnet fishing from the shore. Have any of you tried this at the beach, and do you think that their will be stuff out there to find?
  16. New Hunter from the Emerald Coast of Florida!

Hit the beautiful sandy beaches of the emerald coast of Florida for my first hunt this morning. Can't complain after 45 mins I did my part in cleaning up the beaches of about 25-30 pop tops and other trash. Did find a nice gold chain and butter knife. Who the heck takes a butter knife to the...
  17. Pinellas and Hillsborough MD Rules

Just checking on the rules, if any, regarding beach detecting in Hillsborough and Pinellas Counties. I was very active a few years ago and worked the public beaches on both ends of the Courtney Campbell Causeway. I just wanted to make sure you could still detect in those areas.

  20. Carmel, CA - picked over...

This was from one month ago when I visited Carmel, CA for the weekend. I hunted for 2 days at least one hour or more each time using my Tesaro Compadre which I use on dry sand only. It gives too many false signals for me on the wet sand. I am posting this as there are not many posts from...
