And all the silver was 1900 and earlier. I had been to this site a few times before by myself and found some nice old stuff. This time I brought along a friend.
Andy always shares his sites with me, so I thought this time I would share this one with him.
Soon after arriving at our location, Andy jumps out onto where the sidewalk used to be, and finds the first Indian head cent of the day. Right off the bat!
Not to be outdone, I soon pulled out two Barber dimes from the same hole. After digging a few junk signals I looked up and saw Andy. He was about two blocks down the street. At first I thought to myself:
"He's going kind of fast". "He's going to miss the deeper coins", or:
"He is going for the easy pickings first".
With the latter being the case, it was he who found the Morgan Dollar, The Barber quarter, and the 1852 Bank of Upper Canada token.
Between the two of us we recovered:
1 Morgan Dollar.
1 Barber Quarter.
3 Barber dimes.
1 Seated dime.
2 V nickels.
10 Indian Head cents.
1 Canadian large cent (1902)
An 1852 Bank of Upper Canada token.
1 "Good For" token.
3 old buttons including a Civil war artillery coat button.
A small pile of Wheat cents.
Here is where we detected and some of the finds.

looks like its worth more than 1.65 to me nice find.

Man, oh man, what a site! I'd be camping out there, buying drinks for the construction gents, anything to be able to detect there until the site was finished. You just don't see that many sites like that anymore, at least not in Denver. Can you scan some more closeups? Like to see the token.

Great finds. Glad you were able to take advantage of the sidewalk tear out. Right place, right time. You the Man.

Nice haul,

What you live in a ghost town, or a hollywood set? That's what it looks like, looks like they dug the whole town up. What did they do with all the people? Nice site!

Yes, can we see more close ups? I want to see the barber stuff...

Keep @ it and HH!!

Awesome finds! Looks like a really good place to detect!

Thanks for all the replies!
Some of you wanted to see some closeups of a few of the coins and the token from this site. I finally got a chance to clean them up and photograph a few of them. Since I am posting more stuff I can't say that these are "Today's Finds" but I don't think anyone will care. Some of the finds were made a few weeks ago.

I would also like to show some pics of the site that are about 4-6 weeks old. It shows the street before the sidewalks were taken out. One pic shows the original sandstone sidewalk buried about 1 foot lower than the original sidewalk. The really old coins are going to be under that. In some areas they dug deep enough to reach some of these coins with the detector.

Here are a few of the better Indianhead cents and a Carson City Seated Liberty dime that I found last month.

Bad assss Its like a time capsule under those street digs, I love em, great finds

great finds, around here they dont let you hunt sites like that.

No Friggin' Kiddin'.......No word to describe a chance like that!!! They tore up the entire sidewalk through Charles Town WV (Named after GW's brother and where thay hung John Brown after the raid in Harpers Ferry) but anway it still make's me sick to my stomach to this day that I never even attempted to ask for permission of any kind.......Beautiful dig's!!!! How long do you figure you'll have this spot?

In Florida, you would be hard pressed to gain access to any construction site. At least in Brevard County. Every construction site that I have seen is posted. I even say an inside mall, that was having a 5 foot square section of tile flooring being replaced, posted and enclosed with a six foot high chain link fence. Wish I had my camera with me to take a picture.

Have been denied every time I tried to gain access to such sites. Folks are worried about being sued for injuries. Even offered to sign a waiver but to no avail.

Glad you area has not reached this level of paranoia.
