Found this neat point today that looks to be made from a flake.

This big worked piece that has to be some kind of knife/chopper I would imagine.

Like your finds, thanks for sharing. Never saw a point flat on one side, makes sense that it could be from a big flake. Is it rare?

No problem bill, I believe its only the 2nd one I've found since artifact hunting last year. I honestly don't know if they are rare I would imagine not as they weren't very wasteful, but on the other hand I haven't seen many points made out of flakes posted or otherwise. The other one I found I think they call a 'bird point' its kinda shaped like a pointed cross, really thin and looks nothing like this one.

Now thats a interesting made point going to have ta stack some cotton behind it to get it to say in a frame. On your 2nd piece (big one) is it flat on 1 side where it could of been held in the hand? If so I would call it a Backed Knife which here in GA they call it a side scraper and is made for being hand held. I have a few and always enjoy finding them.

It is flat all the way across on the side opposite the blade. Is this the side you are referring to?

That would make sense being a handheld scraper.

Yes they did that on purpose Id call it a backed knife. Sometimes they would break them in 2 to make 2 knifes. Not all brokes are actually broken.

Interesting, thanks rock. I have found other pieces very similar in shape that I have in my flake/chunk pile, perhaps I should take them out for a better look haha.
