100 YEAR OLD COIN SPILL .....AND THERE'S MORE IN THE HOLE!!!

OK folks, this is a new one for me.......In my town there is a small/medium grassy knoll area near the town cemetery. I found a nice 1906 Barber dime there 2 nights ago and went back there again last night. I started detecting at 7pm and around 7:15pm I found an 1890 Indian.I swung my loop (XLT)just to the left of that hole and there was a large (2x2) area that was sounding off, a little broken up and I almost walked away from it but it pinpointed at 3.5 inches so I dug and out came an 1880 Indian and the rest is history.......FOR THE NEXT 30 MINUTES I PROCEEDED TO PULL OUT 13 INDIANS AND 4 DIMES!!!!....It was now about 7:50pm and very dark so I had to leave......On one of my last handfuls of dirt I pulled out a pretty large (2 inches) piece of green glass and it got me thinking all night that maybe I have found coins that someone buried in a jar and the jar broke......the hole is still sounding off loud and clear and it is raining hard here (Mass) so I'm not sure when I can go back...I am hoping this afternoon.....I will keep you posted....I hope you enjoy the pics!

Whew.....lol......hello all and thanks for your patience.....this has been very exciting for me but all good coin spills must come to an end....BUT NOT BEFORE 3 MORE SILVERS AND 3 MORE INDIANS!!!!!!!!.....that's what I pulled out of the same hole in 15 minutes tonight!! (it's kinda easy to make good time when you already know where the coins are....lol)......brought my (non-metal detecting) friend with me tonight to watch (and pray).....he just couldn't believe it.......and really, neither can I. There was no sign of any more glass in the hole so I guess that kills my "jar of coins" theory but for some reason unknown to me I stumbled upon a total of 16 Indians, 6 dimes and one (Canadian) half dime......2 different Canadians in a 100 year old coin spill/stash?.....that seems odd to me......

This has been great not so much monetarily but from an "uncovering history" and a "what made me swing my loop in that spot anyways"? point of view.......it might be many moons or never before I see something like this happen again but that's OK, this will hold me over for a bit..........

I hope you enjoy the pics......some shots of the 6 coins found tonight and some shots of all the coins that came out of the hole.....

well shoot... I have had the dfx since nov.. and its MAKING ME NUTSSSSSSSSSSS and I really havent found anything to seriously get excited about...... but am glad ya know I am nuts and I am NOT posting on this coin spill till HE SHOWS UP and tells us what the hecks going on..... I WANNA KNOW... bet its all gone... lol

Holy cow, the Pillar of patience!

I once uncovered many dozens of Edison battery acid bottles. I picked up a few, a friends advice was 'don't bother, we'll come back after school.' By 3 pm the next day another dumb kid had found them while skipping school, lined them up on a fence and summarily shot each one with a 22!
