My last call of the day on Monday was at an old Cincinnati Country Club. I jokingly asked the guy I was meeting if I could detect it. He said yes, but had to ask the GM. I talked to him for a few minutes and I had permission. This turned out to be the golden opportunity I knew it would be. I only dug signals that I felt positive were silver, and ended up with 6 silver dimes in about an hour. There were literally hundreds of fairly deep coins in a small area that was used for banquets/receptions right near the clubhouse. It was a metal detectorists heaven. The coins from that hunt are in the white folder. Best coin is the 1912 Barber with a partial LIBERTY still visible. One of the Rosies was bent, and one of the Mercs had been stepped on by an old metal golf spike. I hope to go back to this location, but don't want to push my luck with the GM's generosity.
Today, I snuck out at lunchtime to a site that Lostlake and I have been working for quite some time. I was on the phone with him, and he was telling me good luck finding any silver quarters, b/c we had found them all already. Right then I picked up a silver quarter signal and out popped a 1937 without a speck of tarnish. I ended up with 5 silvers, one 1925 Buffalo and 7 fairly nasty looking wheats. I guess we hadn't found them all. The pic from today is the one with my hand. The Merc is 1918 S, which is very old for this site. I was not at the site for more than 1 hour.
I wouldn't mind rounding out the weekend by finding at least one more silver to make an even dozen.
Regards,
Jon Dickinson.
