Today i went back to the Field where the Roman Denarius was found on thursday. It was a long day, 8 hrs in rain and wind. Thursday the soil was dry to the bone and now when conditions were better the finds were better too. A bunch of WWII scrap like usual (buttons, buckle, cap badge are the better finds). coins were sparse like the last time, but this hunt a beautiful 1597 Nederlands Gold Dukat and a 1638 Cologne hammered Silver popped up! :hello2: I found an scrappy roman sestercius too, but it didn't know where it is... :icon_scratch: Well spent weekend time. Best is that the date from these two coins is in the same timeframe and the silver one had thick green patina on it. May coming from a small hoard? Enjoy the pics!

MD'n in Europe definitely gives you different expectations. Beautiful gold coin.

Amazing coins

You got my nomination.
Nice!

Do you find alot of WW II stuff over there...I always wondered?

Very nice! What a remarkable coin. Banner all the way.

I vote banner!!
What an amazing hunt!once in a life time!
Big congrats on an incredible pair of coins.

CONGRATS - up top where it should be!

Congrats on the gold coin, very nice! Amazing they did not change the Ducat much for hundreds of years, I found a 1743 last May. I had my coin professionally straightened at a Goldsmith, he placed it between two blocks of wood and hit it with a hammer, LOL! I think the silver hammered is actually milled, Germans invented the coin mill in the mid 1500s unfortunately. Congrats and HH, Mike

I vote banner !!!......:hello2:

Congratulations Westfront!!! As you see it pays to keep swinging that detector here in Germany!!! There is some old stuff in the ground around these parts!
