Hey, got to do some digging in the rain over the weekend and decided that I would visit a field with tall grass before the tick get thick !!! It payed off, in short order I had found some early items , skeleton key , brass key plate and a brass buckle. I have been using my MineLabs as it seems to be better at skipping hot rocks. I got a strong tone and decided to dig it ,at about eight inches I pulled a 1738 King Phillip ~ feel free to add any info ? , I have not researched it yet. About an hour later I again got a strong tone and dug the 1838 liberty penny in about five inches. Funny how they are 100 years apart !! Did manage to collect two ticks also !! I will be hitting this field again soon and will post anything worth looking at .

Nice recoveries! In addition to the half reale and the shoe buckle, the key hole escucheon and key both appear to be colonial as well.

I just noticed your coin has two Mexico City mint marks. I don't recall ever seeing that before.

Evidently, the Mexico City mint was putting its mark twice on the early Pillar Half Real, since this website shows one, your 1738 has them and my 1739 also has two mintmarks.
