1767 Silver coin, but what?

Found this silver coin a while back. It is thin and in rough shape, and had even had a square nail driven in it at some point. I can make out what looks like the word "American" on the left side close to the hole while making out the date of 1767 near the bottom on the same side. On the back side (pic) there is a design that almost looks like a large diamond ring with some letters around the edge that I cannot make out.

Any help?

Sorry, don't have anythig to measure mm. It is 7/8 inch wide.

Probably 12 or 24 Skillings. Just a matter of matching the size.
