Don't want to burst the bubble, but a word of caution, these were heavily copied & if its EF then that sounds alarm bells. I hope I'm wrong, but get it seen to first, or good pictures on here will get you a confirmation of authenticity. GOOD LUCK :icon_thumright:

My gramps was given that by his grandpa who was born 1859.

Waiting for photos........ :read2:

Don't hurt yourself doing that happy dance because a reproduction won't pay the doctor bill. ;D

I believe they were reproduced in 1876 for the 100 year anniversary, so its possible it might be an old copy as well. Its of course possible its real which I hope it is. I have already heard of similar stories on here. Always look at rare coins or tokens carefully & do your research, this is all part of the fun (for me anyway). Once again, I really want it to be real, I just wanted to prepare you for other alternatives. :icon_thumright:

Not likely but anything is possible. Just look at the valuable New England silver that turned up in a UK collection several years back. It doesn't happen often but there is definitely very rare coins in collections and the owners have no idea!

I found one of them in the schoolyard when I was a kid, along with a shilling. I was totally stoked and showed them to my dad, who collected coins. He took them to a coin dealer and when he told me they were fake, I was bummed. they looked pretty good though!
