We got a late start at work today so I had an hour or so to kill and went to a field that I have found a good amount of colonial coppers and LC's. Was doing o.k. with the finds with some relics and wheaties and it was getting close to time to head to work so I told myself one more signal. I got a solid penny/dime reading on my M6 VDI of 79. Dug down and at about 7 inches I saw a copper, thought sweet, another LC. Got rubbing it to see what it was (dumb move) and about pooped myself when I saw what it was...a 1787 Mass Copper!!!! :hello2:

Has anyone had any experience with any of the various grading companies? I am thinking of sending this in to have it graded and slabbed but am not sure which is the best one to use and the procedure and cost each company has....Thanks for any tips!!

Nice find. I would definitely think about getting it slabbed as well. Unfortunately, I have no experience with this since I haven't found anything worth slabbing yet. Good luck.

Dan...thanks for that, and yes New England coppers are probably rare finds in Calif...however you stand a much better chance of finding a nice Calif. gold coin....

That is one killer copper. I love it.
