Well Christmas sure came early today! :headbang:I ventured out to an old stand by expecting to suck up a button or two but was very pleased with my finds today. The rain in the area made the loamy ground very soft and wet. I was picking signals for a solid 2 hours out of an area pounded by many detectorist including myself. First signal was a nice tombac button. About 20 minutes later I got a very loud solid 92 on my T2 very shallow. Thinking can or quarter on the surface. I flipped this bad boy out of the ground and nearly died when I wiped the dirt off the face! HOLY #@$E%. I was hunting solo so I just quietly celebrated making several phone calls to m hunting buddies. Beautiful 1793 Wreath and Bars large cent!!

After finding this I pounded the area and came up with some beautiful buttons too. One looks to be some sort of NJ National guard. Scoville back

Next beauty is this harp button with a bunch of clovers surrounding it. Havn't Id'ed it yet but could be military. Best Standard makers mark.

Last but not least my first (colonial) Jews harp! Very small and very cool.

I also made a little video that I can't figure out how to post as of yet. But enjoy the pics and Have a MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!! :headbang: :headbang:

Banner for sure! Seriously, I can't stop looking at it. Amazing detail left on that thing. I just showed it to my wife in Red Book and she said "why cant you find coins like that". LOL

Just Beautiful.

Banner copper!!! I just found the harp button as well earlier this week. If you can id the button please let me know. Again great finds!

HH and Merry Christmas/Happy Hollidays to All.

Figures. Never see an exact button like that ever dug, and than I think I saw it in another post. Wow, weird how that works.

Nice.

Thanks a bunch guys. Posted a link to my first Youtube video. Hope everyones Christmas is a good one! :hello2: Monte Can't find any info on that harp button. Yours is identical. Hope someone can ID it for us :icon_thumleft:

Super congrats Jim!!!! Banner one for sure and really unusual seeing that harp button appear again so soon! I may have to look into IDing that one, but I also like the NJNG button, I found one identical to it back in the late 1980s!
The reverse and edge seem to indicate it is a Sheldon 9 variety, the highest mintage one of the Wreath type.
Attaching a cropped combined photo of the Obverse and Reverse. Also a link for the coinfacts info on a Sheldon 9 http://www.coinfacts.com/large_cents/1793_wreath_cents/1793_large_cent_s009.htm

That is awesome.

Congrats on a great find. They are really thick coins. Don't see those come up to often.

Thanks again Don! Think I should mess with it (Peroxide) or just leave it be. This baby is worth a little more than the ordinary coins I find and don't want to ruin it.

Leave it be.................

Now that I relooked at your field shots,99.999% certain on the S-9 ID...... The one I found is a Sheldon 11-c Lettered Edge with one Oak Leaf.

Don

ADDED: Talk about irony, you found your 1793 along with a Irish button of some type and I found my 1793 along with a War of 1812 Irish Union Greens button! :icon_thumright: (And both found in Southern New Jersey)

beautiful coin! and with an added bonus of getting it on video too! Definitely banner worthy

That is absolutely UNBELIEVABLE! It has amazing detail and is one beautiful coin. You have my banner vote.
