Got out to the “hunted out” colonial site where I dug the 8 reale and the KGIII Half Penny years ago and got a few flat buttons and a thimble. Then, as the sun set and the dark was creeping in, I walked back to the car. On the way back right by the road I got a repeating 84 on my AT Pro and had my fingers crossed for another silver coin instead of a stupid modern penny. Popped the plug and had a little trouble finding it because it was such a big signal. Found the coin and wiped off the face and back but couldn’t make anything out on it. I knew it was old and it was a thick coin. Figured it was a large cent since it was so thick. Got home and started cleaning it when I saw the “1794” and knew I had something good. So here it is! 2019 has started off with a bang!

Any tips on getting the green crud off without damaging this coin? Thanks!

DON"T wet it!! Don'T use oil!! let it dry and get Anddre's Penciis. I cannot believe how good they work. Go slow and it just might come out very well.

I would recommend you examine the reverse REAL good with a loupe or microscope. If it has remnants of stars in the denticles, you really hit the jackpot.

Nice coin!!! Stunner! I would try some Andres pencils on it LIGHTLY. That should get the crud off if tooth picks don't work. Congrats!

Congratulations! Amazing detail on that one, she must have been pretty new when lost!

Steve

Beautiful find. I would leave it alone.
