1796 British token

[Bill D. (VA)]

My friend Stan dug this cool early token today at a site up his way. Apparently it's a 1796 flowers and buck's head Edinburgh halfpenny token. Never seen one like it. If anyone can provide any info about this token, especially its rarity, it would be appreciated.[h=1][/h]

That is one cool token.

That's a nice looking token Bill. Everything online points to it being rare so I'd make room for it next to that gold coin you're going to dig tomorrow. Good luck!!

[Jyverb64]

That's a sweet token.

Scarce Flowers and Buck's Head Edinburgh Halfpenny 1796

Its considered to be a "scarce" token.

18th century Halfpenny Tokens (6) Essex Colchester Charles Heaths Ba : A132 L492 : Realised Prices : London Coins

Doesn't look like its any too valuable, but still interesting and a better variety than most Condor tokens.

ABC Coins and Tokens Alnwick Northumberland - worth about 40 pounds, or about $70.00 US. The condition of the one shown on their site is much better than yours on the Buck's head side, but your obverse looks better than theirs.
Any time you can dig up a $70.00 bill is a good thing, plus if you use google (which you did not), you will learn a whole host of things about the stuff you find lost by old and ancient civilizations. These machines and the internet have made amateur historians out of millions of people with a love of finding things from the past - the Hunt!
Sweet find!

Nice one. Usually need a pretty high grade to have much value on those trade/condor tokens.

[CRUSADER]

Good condition but not very valueable. I rarely dig them as nice as that, mine come out pretty bad.
