Well, the description says it all. I found this at a cellar hole edge after clearing a $h!t ton of brambles. The coin looked like it was a loss, but reluctantly I decided to give it a zap, something I rarely do. The results were spectacular.

Here is the surface find...

Nice recovery, Steve. How long was it zapped?

Not quite sure. I’m not an electrolysis frequent but I zapped it for around 50 minutes @ 12v and 2amps. Checked it and cleaned ever 4-5 minutes during.

Nice! That copper had great "potential" for electrolysis!
Thanks for showing the before and after... and... awesome find!

I have not used electrolysis on anything yet, after seeing your results, I will have to give it a try. Nice work, nice save. HH

That coin really cleaned up nicely. I have never tried doing electrolysis. Looks like you have that down to a science. Congrats and a very nice surface find.

Yeah, I’m not a fan of electrolysis just so I’m clear. I avoid it and have probably only zapped less than a 10 large copper coins in the last 5 years. I practiced on junk coins quite a bit to make sure I did it right when the time finally came. But as a whole I really don’t recommend zapping coins. They may look nice but it destroys their value and patina.

Anyway thanks for looking!

Came out real nice Steve. It was definitely worth moving all those brambles!
