All Treasure Hunting
Found these items at the site of an old granite chimney. I detected this site about 7 years ago with my Bounty hunter detector and decided to return with my Garrett. I found all this stuff with my Ace 150.
The silver spoon is marked T.J. Brown 10 15 on the back. The coin is an 1810 fifty cent piece. It reads "Half a dollar" and "fifty cents" on its edge. Someone there driving a tractor told me the house was built in the late 1700's and that some Confederate troops camped on the farm during the civil war. Also found a silver plated butter knife and spoon, a modern key and some CW bullets.

SP,
Unbelievable coin!!!! What a beauty. :o I can't imagine digging a half that old. Congrats on making banner, and your other finds are also great. Some CW lead there I see. :hello2:

WOW!! Those are some great finds. I wish I could find an old chimney like that in my area.

Looks like it wasn't in the ground?

I cleaned it.

Nice find, but you shouldn't clean coins. The scratches devalue the coin. It's banner worthy and a rare find, but not a rare coin, so the damage isn't too costly. A quick rinse and air dry, usually is good enough for silver coins. Any further preservation should be done with caution. Avoid the temptation of rubbing the dirt off in the field, it only scratches the coin. I see it all the time.

I used a toothbrush and some dawn. but I did rub it when I found it. I don't sell any of my finds unless they are worth thousands. This is said to be worth about $80.

Congrats on the 50 C.

Always good to go back to those older places with newer equipment!
