Found these items at the site of an old granite chimney. I detected this site about 7 years ago with my Bounty hunter detector and decided to return with my Garrett. I found all this stuff with my Ace 150.
The silver spoon is marked T.J. Brown 10 15 on the back. The coin is an 1810 fifty cent piece. It reads "Half a dollar" and "fifty cents" on its edge. Someone there driving a tractor told me the house was built in the late 1700's and that some Confederate troops camped on the farm during the civil war. Also found a silver plated butter knife and spoon, a modern key and some CW bullets.

Thats a great looking half .Your coin silver spoon was made in Baltimore Maryland between 1842 -1884

What do you mean by "Coin" silver spoon?

Coin silver is just melted silvers coins. In the 18th or 19th century that's how silversmiths would manufacture utensils or tableware. You would go to your local silversmith and tell him what you wanted and he would figure out how much weight in silver coins it would take to make your objects. Some larger companies had ready made utensils and the local silversmith would impress is name on the utensils.

Man that half is sweet I would cry wee wee wee all the way home with that coin!

I've found many halves in my tow years detecting, but none as SWEET as yours. Big time congrats on that superb find!
