It has been a great weekend for digging in Virginia. I found my second Large Cent (1849) and a Federal Infantry button. I need some advice on the best way to bring out the detail. Thanks in advance for any help.

nice finds. The large cent looks to be in good shape,i would probably just tooth- brush it lightly with warm water and soap.Maybe try the same method with the button at first and see how it turns out.If not satisfied with results on button maybe dilute some lemon juice with a little water and Brush it lightly, maybe let soak for a minute or two, brush, repeat until satisfied.Be sure to rinse off the lemon juice with water when done.Just remember some stuff is only gonna clean up as good as it can, never over due anything, you don't want to strip it of its patina.Sweet finds:icon_thumleft:Happy New Year!
