Finding an 1844 half dime, is an old coin considering that Utah was settled in 1849 by the Pioneers. In a field finding a 1844 half dime was a thrill in addition to the barber and liberty dimes that were found. Detector used. CZ-3D. The choice for older areas!
So compared to back east where finding a 1780 coin is normal, a 1844 in Utah is a good find.

That indeed is a very good find out that way. Heck its a great find over here in the east.
 
Hey man geat finds,

Make no mistake 1780's or any 1700's finds are not the "norm" sure it happens, but any, and everyone is sure happy when it does.

BTW any half dime is a good find for sure.

Funny I imagine lots are lost as they are small, but as I have found a 3 center from 1851 ...the signal they give off is in the "junk" range if deep enough, so big congrats to you. ANY half dime is a good find, no matter where it is found.
