Yay! It's my third large cent this year (and ever!). Found it right by a power pole in the front yard of a 1820s -ish house on a busy road. It was pretty deep and the signal was not that strong - I almost gave up - but I gave it one more scoop and there she was ;D

I don't think I made that scratch because she was really caked with dirt when I found her. I didn't even try to scrape off the dirt to see the date. I just wrapped her up brought her home and gave her a gentle cleaning.

In my 1.5 hour hunt there I also found a 1905 Indian cent, 1914 wheat, 1920 wheat, 1946 wheat $.08 in clad and part of some sort of toy gun.

Happy dance for me today!

Thanks everyone!

Just wanted to update with this example of the random fun of metal detecting. Went back to the same yard and about 10 feet away I dug this 1956 British Shilling :D

Pretty crazy for this small NY town!

But another one to cross off my list ... well first I have to add it to my list then I will cross it off :laughing7:
