1848 Large, 1867 Shield, Button, & Misc.

Greetings Friends,
I re hunted a couple of field sites this week and found these.
The LC was a pleasant surprise as I found it in an area I had hunted at least 6 times.
I dug a deep plug, broke it open, and out popped the LC landing as shown. It cleaned up well in the tumbler.
I think the shield nickel is an 1867. The "In memory of" was found near the LC.

Wow! that photo fooled me, but then again,

What a beautiful LC Merf. One of the best i've seen pulled from the doit. And the shield nickle is a special find also. I've only found a few of them over the years. The buttons look good . Fantastic variety.

All my finds in that field were at an area of about 200 by 200 feet.
The trick is to find as near as possible the location of the long gone buildings and then search in all metal mode until you find an area where you get a lot [and I mean a lot] of signals. These are the square nails.
That means you hit the jackpot and then you just pound the site hard a few times and reap the rewards.

I fill the tumbler about 2/3 full of white aquarium gravel, ad 1/2 ounce of white vinegar, add water to just below the top of the gravel and tumble. This coin took 2 hours to get rid of the green. The vinegar gives the coin a slightly orange hue so I tumbled it with just water and gravel for another 2 hours.
I check the coin every hour as each coin is different. I have had some that clean up nice in half that time.

are really cool too and we get a sense of being there
