1859 seated surprise.

Was out the other day in the middle of absolute no where. Just drove around until I found a open area to walk into the woods. Didn't think anything would turn up. Hunted for about 1 hour and found a few coins, but the most interesting is this one. 1859 Seated. Very cool. Didn't rub it, just placed it in my coin bag. When I got home I ran the coin under water and found it was a Seated but, the other side was completely sanded off and etched with the letter R. On the seated side you can see where someone silver soldered on a pin. Was it worn as a pin or button? Anyone ever see something like this?
