1865 two cent piece

Last eveing after work, I hit an old school site. Research had told me that there had been several different schools on that site over the years, starting in 1872 or so. By the time I got to the site, I only had about an hour befor dark, but got started.

I dug about 6 memorials, a clad dime, and a 1965 clad quarter. But then...near a large tree, I hit a good signal. It was showing between 12-39 and 12-44 on the E-trac, at 10 to 11 inches.

At the bottom of the hole, I found a first! After cleaning it up and finely figuring out what it was, I discovered an 1865 2 cent piece under all that crud.
