Hi everybody. This is my first seated coin. It was found at what once was an out of the way part-time stage stop, and work camp. I pulled it out of the iron, bottle caps, tin bits, brass, lead trash and more. I was using my SE.

It came in clear and read almost exactly like a zinc penny (7-23), and at times hitting
7-24. the only reason I dug it was because it sounded so good and it was located in an old area. It sounded a little smoother and than a zinc penny. That was most likely due to the hello and size difference.

For those who what to know my SE settings, here they are:
I hunt this area in Iron Mask AM mode using the Smart and Digital Screen, Ferrous Tones, Fast, Gains at 3 (adjust as needed), Threshold just above silent, Manual Sensitivity (adjust as needed). I’m still using the stock slim-line coil, and I hunted slowly in this trashy area. It was down about "4 to 5" give or take.

I don’t have any gold to show this week, that’s because of my work schedule, family obligations, and the 4th of July. Next weekend I’ll make it a point to find a spot of gold or 2, to share.

Nice job, Anthony, on your seated half-dime! That coin still eludes me.

You gotta go to the old areas to find those seateds.

What a nice surprise, it's so hard i here in California to find seated! is this your first half dime and seated?

At first read, I thought, "that date can't be right." I looked up the coin and discovered that, yes, the US minted both a nickel and half dime for several years. For your sake, I'm glad they did, but you have to wonder why. Very nice find, by the way!

Congrats on the great find! Good hunting for sure.

Yeah, I would say it’s old too. I can really see the age on it as far as it being in the ground, the date helps too :icon_sunny:. Thanks MM.

Yeah, it's very hard, not to mention that it's at least 100° F or higher. I can only hunt this area in the early morning hours, late evenings or night. Thanks carzyharhead.

Yeah it’s tough digging, just like prospecting for gold in a way.
Thanks Joe.

Thanks for the props Dan, old areas are the ticket, but the finds will be few and hopefully not far in between.
Thanks again.

Thanks Marcus.
This is my first half dime and my first seated coin. And like most good finds, it was a surprise for to find. Now that I have aML SE I’m starting to spend more time hunting older sites. I’ve hunted this area several times before and most of the items I have pull up date back to the 30's, 40's, and 50’s, except for some bullets and old Henry double strike shell casings, and similar relics from the 1800’s.

Thanks again.

Thanks halfdime. Just so that you know, you’re the first person that came to my mind when I saw the coin said Half Dime on it.
Thanks again.
