Roland,
I have been to Tyler and recall coin hunting in a park south of downtown I think it was Bergfield or something like that.
Tyler is an old town and I still know some folks in and around there / also recall camp Ford a civil war prison camp.
actually did dig there back in 1982 or 1983 this was before any no digging signs were posted etc.
and come to think of it there is a great state park off of 14 dont know if you can dig there now ?
I am in central Texas and dig when I can as I am sure most of us do . Bummer about the San Antonio rules for Parks.
Have had good luck in smaller not so traveled towns , generaly with 3,000 or less people living there.

Nice seated! My brother likes his safari and has found some good silver. About those small towns,If there isn't a local detector in town, small towns can be a goldmine. Less progress(no sewer, still using septic-old sidewalks- block size parks-usually no rules against detecting. Yep I love small towns. Great job, that quarter has friends. Get em. Dan

Nice seated. Any time you can find silver in Texas is a good day. If its a seated, its a great day. TMAN...

Nice find....My detector is allergic to them! :BangHead:

awesome! I found my first seated quarter this year.

I bet it's one of the few times you'd hope for an IHC (with that year) than a quarter, haha.

Nice find!

angus,
Although, I have hunted Bergfeld park, just south of downtown, it is now off limits, as are all the other places you mentioned. Lakemonster and I have found a few places that have produced a little silver and a few very nice rings and he has happened upon a Barber and a really nice seated just recently. (no oldies for me..... :'(

) I'm sure there are some pretty good spots still around here, but, they would probably require permission. My new SEF coil will be here soon....I sure hope it lives up to the hype! I may have to go back over all these places where I have found a little silver in the past.

(Edit: I don't think this coil is an SEF, in fact, I am sure of it. There was a misprint in one of the ads I saw. The coil I have ordered is simply the 15" DD coil. I'm still hoping for some greater depth advantage over the stock 11" coil)
